In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan, Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone; Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow, In the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him, nor earth sustain; Heaven and earth shall flee away when He comes to reign. In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.
Enough for Him, whom cherubim, worship night and day, Breastful of milk, and a mangerful of hay; Enough for Him, whom angels fall before, The ox and ass and camel which adore.
Angels and archangels may have gathered there, Cherubim and seraphim thronged the air; But His mother only, in her maiden bliss, Worshipped the beloved with a kiss.
What can I give Him, poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb; If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part; Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.
Christina Rossetti (1830—1894)

If ye love me, keep my commandments, And I will pray the father, And he shall give you another comforter, That he may abide with you forever, E’en the spirit of truth. That he may abide with you forever, E’en the spirit of truth.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto Me and rest; Lay down, O weary one, lay down Thy head upon My breast.” I came to Jesus as I was, Weary, and worn, and sad; I found in him a resting-place, And he has made me glad.
I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give The living water; thirsty one, Stoop down, and drink, and live.” I came to Jesus, and I drank Of that life-giving stream; My thirst was quench’d, my soul revived, And now I live in him.
I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world’s Light; Look unto me, your morn shall rise, And all your day be bright.” I looked to Jesus, and I found In him my Star, my Sun; And in that Light of life I’ll walk, Till trav’ling days are done.

Holy is the True Light, and passing wonderful, lending radiance to them that endured in the heat of the conflict, from Christ they inherit a home of unfading splendour, wherein they rejoice with gladness evermore. Alleluia!

God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
Come and see what the Lord has done. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth, he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, ‘Be still and know that I am God.’
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Let nothing disturb you, Let nothing frighten you, All things are passing. God never changes. Patience obtains all things Whoever has God lacks nothing. God is enough.
