About

Esther Bersweden is a Bristol-based musician and is currently working in the Music Department at Redmaids’ High School. She recently received a Distinction in a Music MA specialising in Composition at the University of Bristol. She particularly loves writing choral music and has recently had commissions from the Eltham Choral Society, the City of Bristol Choir, the Choir at St Mary’s, Wimbledon, and Benenden School. She has also had her compositions sung by other choirs in cathedrals, parish churches and schools around the country. Esther has been involved in the musical life of St Paul’s, Clifton for the last seven years, where she held the organ scholarship as an undergraduate, and during which time she discovered a love of conducting.

Together with choral conductor Christian Spielmann, Esther has recently set up the Avon Chamber Choir which is based in Bristol. In November 2022 they gave the premiere of Esther’s Requiem, accompanied – unintentionally – by fireworks!
